Dominique PIERRAT designs functional art objects with
contemporary shapes. They are built according to the spirit and
techniques of traditional French cabinet making. They are good quality,
beautifully finished objects. Raw or salvaged materials are sometimes
combined with them. The creative process is the opposite of the one
used by the designer: the objects are ‘works of
art’ produced as unique pieces (with the exception of a few
copies).

Similarly to the matter which is made of waves and particles,
the object is made of both precious and everyday materials; it is both
delicate and raw, spirit and matter, light- and dark-coloured,
masculine and feminine, yin and yang. Contrary to being Manichean, the
work of art reconciles two worlds which might look paradoxical at first
sight.
It is as complex as a human being.
When making the objects, we make sure that we almost always use environmentally-friendly materials and products; wood, animal glues, varnishes, resins, non-synthetic waxes and oils.
