Detailed description:
A unique object made of 3 swivelling panels on polished brass double-axle hinges. A group of Chinese figures are designed onto the 3 front panels. The wood species used are American chestnut, tulip tree and blackened pear wood. The back is made of natural pear wood with the repetition of the drawing of the Chinese men in a painted tear. The bottom of the panels consists of a carved frieze veneered with trihedrons in the shape of a mountain chain. The sculptures are painted ; the inlay is pad-varnished.
